Japanese pheasant in emergency takeoff

�@A pheasant is somewhat large medium-sized bird. We find frequently such descriptions as �git takes off almost vertically�h, �git flaps violently�h, or �git flaps rapidly�h with regard to the pheasant's takeoff, and also as �gthe short arm�h, or �gthe strong pectoral muscle�h with regard to the wing. These description suggest that the produced flow should be unsteady and three-dimensional. Anyway it is not clear what air current generates around the flapping wing and what force acts on the wing.
