Gray starling flying in a straight line with intermittently beating
@A gray starling is the typical country bird in Japan,
together with a tree sparrow and a crow. The gray starling flies in
almost straight line by repeating the beating and the gliding with folding wing
alternatively. In order to make possible such an intermittent beating flight,
the lift against the gravity should be kept almost constant. This may be
performed by adjusting the area (folding/spreading) and the angle of attack of
the wing. (Prod. Oct. 2007, full]scale, No.1)
